Why invest in ACEM?
Presently, ACEM manages a loan capital fund of just over half a million dollars. The fund is financed by investments made by individuals, religious communities, local businesses, foundations and other non-profit and non-governmental organizations.
ACEM provides the opportunity to individual investors and institutions looking for a dual return on their ethical investment: a modest financial benefit with high social impact.
Since its foundation in 1990 ACEM has provided over 2 200 000$ of business loans to low income persons on Montréal Island. Over the years 94% of that amount has been paid back. We have therefore never defaulted on paying our investors. By limiting ourselves to a modest financial return, we maximize our ability to fight poverty. ACEM has historically paid between 1% and 2% dividend on investments. Every investment however involves risk. Despite our positive track record, it is in itself no guarantee of future performance.
However, ACEM provides more than just credit to the persons we serve. We build a real partnership with our loan recipients through the ongoing technical support and coaching provided throughout the loan process.
ACEM absorbs the cost of providing these personalized services. That means we deliver our socially motivated investors a lower rate of return – but a much higher impact where it is needed most!
Those who want to contribute to the financing of ACEM’s loan capital fund can do so by making a socially responsible investment through a long term low-interest loan to ACEM. We establish loan terms with each potential investor individually. Our goal is to assure that those who invest in ACEM’s loan capital fund receive both a social and a financial return on their investment.
